This cup is just awesome. I saw it at my local Starbucks Coffee and I just couldn’t let it slip by. It awesome to see how “Coffee” is said in diferent languages. They also have it in white, but the brown to me is just so much classier. Its a big mug and the contrast color in the interior of the cup makes it a real piece of art. Its my every-morning choice, my companion to wake-up.
Bireli Lagrene & Friends: Live Jazz A Vienne
This DVD is just awesome. Every year, I think, there is a very famous (inside the jazz community) event called Jazz a Vienne where the best Jazz artists converge in hours of endless playing. This DVD is a recording of the 2002 edition of Jazz a Vienne using several cameras focusing on the different guitar players involved in the act. This isn’t just regular jazz, its gypsy jazz or jazz manouche. I’ve been familiar with this genre for at least a year now, and, I must say I totally love it. Although I do not own that many Jazz Manouche CDs, I do believe this is a must for any Gypsy Jazz, General Jazz aficionado. Even general music lovers that appreciate good ol’ music will find this DVD a jewel. Although the concert is lead by Bireli Lagrene, who is considered the biggest modern time gypsy jazz artist, it features many excellent player like Sylvainn Luc, Stochelo Rosenberg, Tchavolo Schmitt, and my personal favorite, Angelo Debarre. The DVD does feature alot of violin, which to my taste is just to much, but then again, the original Jazz Manouche band, lead by Django Reinhardt did feature a violinist.
This masterpiece is a bargain, as 21 bucks will last for hours of entertainment. I never get bored at watching it, and as I do so, I get even more impressed with the incredible amout of musicianship this gypsies have. Below is video of a song featured in the DVD, It’s There Will Never be Another You by the magnificent Angelo Debarre.
